What Are Dante Flows?

Before audio can be transmitted over a Dante network, channels are packaged into "Flows":

  • A single Flow can contain up to four audio channels

  • Flows determine how many separate Dante devices your Xilica hardware can connect with

  • The number of Flows directly corresponds to how many unique devices can send/receive audio

Practical Applications

QR1 (2×2 Flows)

  • Can receive audio from two different Dante devices

  • Can transmit unicast audio to two different Dante devices

  • Total channel capacity: 4×4

Gio (2×2 Flows)

  • Can receive audio from two different Dante devices

  • Can transmit unicast audio to two different Dante devices

  • Total channel capacity: 2×2

Solaro FR1-D (32×32 Flows)

  • Can receive audio from 32 different Dante devices

  • Can transmit unicast audio to 32 different Dante devices

  • Total channel capacity: 64×64

Extending Connectivity

When transmitting channels are configured for multicast instead of unicast, a single Flow can deliver audio to any number of downstream devices supported by your network infrastructure.
