Configuring Xilica Gio USB's Dante Networked Audio

The routing of Dante networked audio to/from Gio USB can be programmed in one of three ways:

In Designer's Project View, drag a Gio USB on screen. Then draw wires to/from its Dante nodes to/from the appropriate nodes of the connecting Dante device such as a Solaro FR1-D or Solaro QR1. Making these virtual wired connections in Project View creates the actual Dante networked audio routes between devices. These routes can be verified in Designer's Dante View, or by using the Dante Controller Software.

This screen is a scaled-down version of the Dante Controller software. It is essentially a routing matrix that includes all the currently discovered Dante devices on the network. First, select the network interface to search for Dante devices using the drop-down in the top right corner. The discovered devices will each have an icon along the left of the screen. Right-click on this icon and choose Dante Device Setup to view Dante configuration options. For each discovered device its Dante transmit channels will appear across the top of the screen, and its Dante receive channels will appear down the side on the left. To make a Dante patch between a transmit and receive channel, simply locate and click on the cross-point of the appropriate transmit and receive channel. If the route is successfully created, that cross-point will turn green.

At www.audinate.com you can download the Dante Controller software. This is the Dante configuration and management software developed by Audinate. There are many more options within Controller for configuring and managing Dante networks than in Designer's Dante View, but its Routing tab will provide the same kind of routing/matrixing environment for creating patches between Dante transmit and receive channels. Gio USB is also AES67 supported. To enable AES67 for Gio USB, open the Dante Controller software. Double-click on the device name in the routing tab to open the Device View. Click on the AES67 Config tab and from the AES67 Mode drop-down menu, choose Enabled.
