Handling Network View Error Messages in Xilica Designer
Understanding Error Indicators
Critical Version Mismatch
The major version number of Xilica Designer differs from your device firmware. This causes communication breakdown and requires firmware update before your device will work with this version of Xilica Designer.
Minor Version Mismatch
Your device has a lower minor version than recommended by Xilica Designer. While basic communication will work, newer features in Xilica Designer (such as new DSP modules) won't function properly. We recommend updating your device firmware.
Version Numbers Explained
Xilica firmware uses the numbering scheme X.Y.Z (example: 4.1.0)
X (Major Version) — Indicates significant compatibility or communication protocol changes. Different major versions between Xilica Designer and devices will cause incompatibility.
Y (Minor Version) — Indicates functionality changes while maintaining communication protocol compatibility. Mismatched minor versions may limit access to newer features.
Z (Build Number) — Indicates minor patch updates and bug fixes.
Clock Synchronization Issue
Xilica Designer allows you to synchronize your computer's clock with the device's real-time clock. A clock icon appears in the lower left of the device block in Network View:
Normal clock icon — Device time matches your computer
Clock with question mark — Device time differs from your computer
This clock relates to time of day only and doesn't affect digital audio clocking.
To synchronize:
Single device: Right-click device block → Synchronize Device clock
All devices: Click "Sync clock to all devices" in Network View
Your device will automatically reboot after synchronization.
No Data Error
This indicates your processor contains no programming or project file.
If this error persists after loading a design, restart both the device and Xilica Designer.
IP Issue / TCP Error
This indicates an Ethernet connection problem with your device. When a device is detected, Xilica Designer establishes a TCP connection. This error appears if device information can't be obtained after a one-minute timeout.
A temporary network issue may resolve itself within a minute. Persistent network issues will continue to display the TCP Error icon.
Troubleshooting Steps
Disable your computer's firewall temporarily
Disable any active antivirus software
If directly connected to the AV network, disable Wi-Fi on your computer
Check for duplicate IP addresses:
Disconnect the processor from the network
Ping its IP address
A reply indicates a conflicting device with the same IP address
Right-click device block → Remote Reset Device to reboot hardware
In Network View, right-click device block → Device Setup → Network tab → Connectivity Test → TCP Test
Verify your computer's IP address range matches your device IP range
Check multiple network interfaces:
Network View displays your computer's IP address(es) in the top left
Multiple addresses indicate multiple network interfaces (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.)
Ensure device IP address shares the same subnet as your computer (or use a router with DHCP)
Minimize active network interfaces on your computer to reduce traffic confusion
Try a direct connection to isolate network issues
