Managing, Saving, and Transferring Designer Files

Edited

Xilica Designer uses two types of project files: .pjxml and .sxml. Understanding the differences helps ensure your design work remains secure and accessible.

PJXML Files: Complete Project Design

.pjxml: The primary project file type containing your entire system design

  • Includes all schematics and programming for every DSP device and controller in your project

  • Save using File > Save or Save As

  • Best practice naming format: ProjectName_SoftwareVersion_FileVersionNumber_LastUpdateDate

  • Can be retrieved from Solaro devices via Network View > Device Setup > General tab

  • Cannot be retrieved from Neutrino/Uno processors, so maintain a separate archive copy

SXML Files: Individual Device Design

.sxml: Contains schematic/programming for a single device only

Export methods:

  1. From a connected online device:

    • Network View: Right-click device > "Export Device Design to File"

    • This retrieves the current design from the hardware

  2. From your project:

    • Project View: Right-click device block > "Export Device Design to File"

Importing:

  • Project View: Right-click device > "Import Device Design from File"

  • Double-click the device after importing to view the schematic design
