Installing Designer on MacOS Tahoe 26.1

Edited

Overview

MacOS Tahoe 26.1 may not open .mpkg installer packages directly.
To install Xilica Designer, you can use a trusted third-party tool called Pacifist to extract and install the application manually.

This guide walks you through each step.

1. Install Pacifist

  1. Download Pacifist from CharlesSoft.

  2. Move the Pacifist.app file into your Applications folder.

2. Open the Installer Package

  1. Launch Pacifist.

  2. In the menu, go to File → Open Package…

  3. Select your XilicaDesigner_4.9.1 3.mpkg file.

3. Install or Extract the App

You can either install the package directly or extract the app manually:

  • Option 1 – Install:

    • Select the main .pkg or .app inside Pacifist.

    • Click Install…, and choose /Applications as the destination.

  • Option 2 – Extract:

    • Drag the .app directly from Pacifist into your /Applications folder.

4. Launch Xilica Designer

  1. Open /Applications/Xilica Designer.app.

  2. If macOS blocks the app, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

💡 Note: Xilica Designer is an Intel-based app.
On Apple Silicon Macs, it runs automatically via Rosetta 2.

5. (Optional) Copy Extra Files

If additional frameworks or resources are shown in Pacifist, you can drag them into the same /Applications/Xilica Designer.app directory to ensure full functionality.

In Summary

Using Pacifist is a quick, reliable way to install Xilica Designer when macOS doesn’t open .mpkg packages directly.
Once installed, launch it from Applications, allow macOS permissions if prompted, and you’re ready to go.
