Factory Resetting Your Xilica Device

Edited

This guide covers factory reset procedures for all current Xilica hardware. Choose your device below.

Before resetting, contact support@xilica.com to confirm whether a reset is the right solution. A factory reset may not fix the issue you're experiencing, and there may be a less disruptive path.

Solaro Processors (QR1 / QR1-UC / FR1 / FR1-D)

Solaro devices offer three levels of reset, from least to most disruptive. Start with the lightest option that addresses your issue.

Level 1: IP Reset

Restores all network interfaces to DHCP mode while keeping your loaded project and configuration intact. Use this when the device has a static IP you can no longer reach.

  1. Wait for the device to fully boot

  2. Locate the IP reset button:

    • QR1 / QR1-UC: Front panel

    • FR1 / FR1-D: Back panel

  3. Press and hold for 10 seconds

  4. Release when complete

After reset, all network interfaces return to DHCP. Reconnect via Designer's Network View once the device picks up a new address.

Level 2: Factory Reset via Firmware Update

Clears all loaded configurations and updates the device to the latest firmware. Use this when you need to start from a clean slate.

  1. Back up your project file (.pjxml) — download it from the device before proceeding (see Exporting and Backing Up Your Xilica Project File)

  2. Perform a standard firmware update via Designer (right-click device → Firmware upgrade)

  3. After the update completes, the device reboots with a clean configuration

  4. Reload your project file if needed

Level 3: System Recovery

Reloads the entire device operating system and file system. Use this only when the device is unresponsive to normal firmware updates or is stuck in a boot loop.

  1. Download the Recovery firmware for Solaro devices (FR1/QR1) is available below:
    - Solaro recovery 4.9.0
