Troubleshooting no audio through Sonia Speakers
Back to Sonia SeriesThere are a few possible reasons no audio can be heard passing through Sonia Speakers, and initial troubleshooting is simplified through the use of the Amp Config tab, accessed by double-clicking on the Sonia Amp device tile in Network view:
Possible issues no audio is being heard through Sonia Speakers:
- Sonia Amp not receiving adequate power, has a fault, or in Standby:
- Confirm that Input Power is either PoE+ or PoE++. If not, connect a compatible PoE+ or PoE++ network switch or injector. For more information, see Compatibility of PoE power delivery devices for Xilica products.
- The Sonia amp is best powered by the Xilica ACC-POE-95W.
- Confirm that Amp Status is green (Active). If not, Reboot Sonia Amp by clicking the Reboot button in the General tab of Device Setup. Contact Xilica Support if there is a reoccurring Sonia Amp fault.
- Confirm the Amp Power is On, with green indicator shown. If the indicator is Red and showing Standby, click the Power On button.
- Cable connectivity or loudspeaker issues
- To ensure proper cable connectivity, click the Auto Detect button to run the speaker impedance test. If successful, a green indicator will show a successful connection, and the number will represent the number of speakers detected on that channel. Please note that long CATx cable connections (over 10m) may result in erroneous speaker counts.
- Alternatively, click each channel's Test Tone button to play a test tone from Sonia Amp's output channel. The type of test tone can be selected in the drop down. If no tone is heard, try adjusting the volume level.
- If neither Auto Detect or playing a Test Tone manually works, replace the cable between the Sonia Amp and Sonia C5 speaker. If still an issue, the Sonia C5 loudspeaker may require replacement.
If you are able to hear audio through Sonia Speakers using the Test Tones, but cannot hear program or conferencing audio, the issue is more than likely Dante network routing or DSP configuration. Dante routing may be checked using Dante Controller, or the Dante Network View in Xilica Designer.
